Students are going to do this assignment in groups outside of class as a major project grade. Students will video tape their drama and then edit it using the movie maker application. After this student’s will then burn their video on a CD and bring it in class for the class to view and judge. This assignment is going to enhance the student’s understanding of the study of plot and characterization in the drama Romeo and Juliet. Student’s will learn to analyze the imagery of the part of the sonnet they choose to act out. This will help the student’s actually have fun while they are doing the assignment. They will also be able to open up to some of their class mates and share their ideas on how they can make their part of the drama better and dramatic. It’s hand on understanding which will help students understand the play Romeo and Juliet better!

poll summary

after reading all the responses I gathered from my poll,  I read pretty much what I expected. Most of the responses said they memorized the formulas for math problems. there was only one student who said they understood the concepts. There was also one student who said the only way to pass the math class was to memorize every thing which is pretty funny because thats how I survived high school math. This needs to change because this isn’t a very intelligent way to learn and understand the material. I asked my little cousin what 5 times 5 equal? and I got the write answer but then I asked her but why is the answer 25? and I just got a blank look. looks like she just remembered her times table

Your Imagination

Building Our Vocabulary

I want my student’s to build their vocabulary. This will help them build their personality as well their language.

Since I am going to teach English Literature, I am going to have my K-12 students create a slide show of vocabulary words. My students would have to use vocabulary words they learned through out their readings  and use Powerpoint; insert images to help explain the vocabulary words to a group of ESL students to build on to their language.

“It’s like learning a language; you can’t speak a language fluently until you find out who you are in that language, and that has as much to do with your body as it does with vocabulary and grammar.”

Involvement

I don’t want my students just reading literature, I want them to engage with what they are reading whether it’s through imagination or emotional involvement. Students will be able to grasp the main idea of their reading better through imagination and actually getting involved in what they read. This will not only help them become better readers but also better writers.

I am going to do a creative session, where I will ask my K-12 students to write their own drama in a group of five and present it to their class. Students can either video tape themselves and show their video in class or they can act out the the drama in person to the class.

Romeo and Juliet

It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return....

La douleur exquise: “The heart-wrenching pain of wanting someone you can’t have. Even a Sex in the City episode was named after it!”

What if the person you secretly love is in love with someone else

This is a pretty simple assignment. Here is a link to the assignment,  Make The Untranslatable Understood. Drama attracts any age group. I want to get  my K-12 involved in their readings, specially with plays like Romeo and Juliet.

How I Edited this Image for the Assignment:

First I searched for an image of painful love on Google. Then I opened Pixlr and copied the image i founded on Google to Pixlr. Then I used the text tool to insert the text onto the image. I then saved the image by going to file and clicking save for web and devices and uploaded the image to edtech.

Building Vocabulary Words

For this assignment my Bilingual class will take a picture of an everyday object and then translate in English and Spanish. This will help students with their cognitive thinking with their two languages. In addition students would learn new vocabulary in English and Spanish.

This is an example of my assigment. My Hello Kitty clock/alarm/ radio but I moslty use it for the time so that’s why I wrote clock (Reloj).
